gansu forestry technological college(gftc) is a college approved by gansu provincial government and filed under the ministry of education.

the college lies in tianshui, home location of the well-known maijishan grottoes. the college occupies 16h㎡ and has a floor space of 68,000h㎡. the fieldwork site of gftc is located in the breath-taking maijishan mountain, covering over 247h㎡ of densely-forested land. the site is used for educational, scientific research, science promotion, and sightseeing purpose. currently, there are 40 labs in gftc, coving approximately 6,000㎡. its facilities are available for students’ lab work and scientific research projects. the newly-built college library, with a collection of 182,000 books, is of national top-caliber which is fully automated.

faculty of gftc currently consists of 256 teachers, including 3 professors and 52 associate professors, and more than 15 national experts and professors with adjunct status. students come from gansu province as well as the five provinces of northwest china.,recruit graduates within the middle school system, polytechnic and technical schools . currently , more then 3,000 students are enrolled full-time and more than 800 part-time at gftc.

since its establishment, gftc has trained over 10,000 students in forestry science and technology. the students have made outstanding contribution to the development of our country’s forestry sector through their involvement with the local forestry bureau and forestry processing units.

gftc insists on the integration of teaching, research and projects development and implement to tackle key problems in forestry technology and popularizing science. meanwhile, gftc has taken pride in its role in research and in the level of national recognition in its scientific accomplishments. in 30 projects completed at both the provincial and municipal level, gftc has been awarded 20 prizes in recognition of the college’s contribution to the forest and science and technology.

we insist on an education which emphasizes ethical training, students centered programs and higher vocational education which focuses on improving the quality of our educational programs as well as comprehensive quality of our students. in order to realize this strategy of sustained development, gftc focuses on developing disciplines , maintaining traditional superior disciplines and expanding and developing new disciplines which will best position gftc as a key facility for cultivating talents and scientific research in forestry in gansu.

in addition, we look forward to developing international and civil academic and collaborative exchanges through expert visitations, collaborative research projects and training programs with our counterparts in asia and countries overseas.
